SOME ENCHANTED EVENING SPECIAL 2016
'Some Enchanted Evening' is Lee's long awaited MGM-led fourth album. We've had a gap of 4 years but it was well worth the wait! Inspired by his love as a boy of Sunday afternoon musical films on the tele, Lee has put together songs that he identifies with and he's done a fair bit of promotion to support the album release in February 2016.
We've put together a selection to give you a flavour of the album and Lee's love for it....
The Videos
Lee took to the Welsh Brecon Beacons
(between storms, it was February!) and
the gorgeous Craig-Y-Nos Castle to put together some sample videos... and he's toe-tapping good!
The Singing
Singing live on the Gaby Roslin show on BBC Radio London the weekend of release would be a daunting prospect but Lee rose to the challenge and magic happened! In the studio along with Gaby was Marti Webb and 80s heart throb Nick Heyward as well as a chef, a producer, Nick's Fiancee and a pianist! Listen here to the edited highlights:

'Almost LIke Being in Love'
The Inspiration
We all know the inspiration for Lee's album 'Some Enchanted Evening' from watching those old MGM musical films; but where were all the tracks taken from? Mason Neely (the album producer) and Lee researched hundreds of songs and reduced them to those that Lee related to, a true labour of love, but well worth the effort. These inspirational lyrics and tunes are taken from the following films....
'A Foggy Day in London Town' was sung by Fred Astaire
'By Myself' was originally sung by Judy Garland!
'I'll See You in My Dreams' was originally sung by Isham Jones in 1924, but later made better known in the film with Ginger Rogers
Starting out as a stage show, 'Feeling Good' sung by Cy Grant
'Where or When' was originally sung by Ray Heatherton on stage, before later becoming a Mickey Rooney film
The iconic Gene Kelly!
'Almost Like Being in Love' was first performed by David Brooks in the stage version, later made popular by Gene Kelly in the 1954 film version
'I Fall in Love Too Easliy' sung by Frank Sinatra, though nominated for an Oscar, it missed out!
This was dubbed in the film, but on stage was sung by Metropolitan Opera bass Ezio Pinza. Safe to say Lee doesn't sing it as a bass!
'Luck Be a Lady' was first sung by Robert Alda in 1950, but later 'sung' by Marlon Brandon in the film!
'All The Things You Are' originally sung by Hiram Sherman, the show closed after 59 virtually empty performances, but the beautiful song endured and is considered: “…the most perfectly constructed of all popular standards....”

The Album
A special mention must go to Musical Director Mason Neely who produced 'Some Enchanted Evening'. Searching through such a catalogue of songs, styling them for a modern age and producing this superb sounding album; along with a pretty good vocalist!
